This was our first month using a newly developed system to bring balance to the judging process. It was extremely close, but we did end up with a winner after the first round of voting. A hearty congratulations goes out to Regina M. Raya of Dinuba, California, USA, who won over the judges with two selected entries. May had 374 entries for the month and there were 40 artists in all who received votes from the judges. All of our artists are winners and June already has over 100 entries submitted to the contest.
How was the Winner Determined? We enlisted the help of a group of independent judges and had each one submit their top TEN images. From those top images we looked for the artist who received the most selections by a judge and this gave us 40 artists who received votes. We then applied 3 different neutral and unbiased filters to the votes received, to allow each style to have a fair chance of winning the contest, and this gave us our winner.
