The City of Grants, NM, USA, was host to the Malpais International Art Show on May 19th, 2012 with 36 artists from around the world.
There were nearly 400 amazing entries in the April contest and some of the best work we have seen to date, but we only needed one round of voting to determine our winner.

There were nearly 400 amazing entries in the April contest and some of the best work we have seen to date, but we only needed one round of voting to determine our winner. After all the votes were tallied, Jason Morgan of Ebbw Vale, Wales, UK, was our overall winner.
We have just finished our sixth month of competition and while we have not been around as long as other groups, the contest continues to grow with over 1200 members now.
This month was a little challenging with some Facebook issues causing problems for our members and judges. We thank you all for your patience while we worked through it. The judges were able to determine a winner, and only needed one round of voting to do it.
The judges certainly did not have an easy time making their choices this month and we ended up with SIX finalists. A second round of judging was needed to determine our overall winner. When it was all said and done, the winner was Andrey Nikulin of Moscow, Russia.
WE DID IT! Less than four months after starting this project with an idea and a plan to create a better art group, the World Artists Contest has crossed over the 1000 member mark.
With 463 entries this month, the judges did not have an easy time. There was however, a clear winner. The artwork in December was simply amazing and included almost every medium of art.
This month’s voting was extremely hard for the judges with almost twice the number of pieces to choose from over October. November artwork included Pencil, Oils, Pastels, Sculpture and even Fabric among others.
A hectic first month getting everything tweaked and setup for the World Artists Contest. The vote was very close and came down to three finalists which were Kim Bishop, Patrick Matriscino and Donna Lee. All three were deserving and received equal votes.
